Saccharomyces boulardii Forte

S. boulardii has been shown to inactivate bacterial toxins, stimulate intestinal immune response, and release polyamines, which are essential for normal cell growth and differentiation. These factors help protect against enteric pathogens, improve tight junction structure, and in dendritic immune cells, increase IL-10, which limits unspecific immune responses by down regulating Th1 response.

In the early 1920s, French microbiologist Henri Boulard observed that villagers in SE Asia who consumed a local fruit based beverage, significantly reduced and more often eliminated the symptoms of diarrhea brought on by a cholera epidemic. He went on to isolate a unique variety of yeast known now as Saccharomyces bouldardii which today is being successfully used to provide specific gut-immune stimulus in cases of antibiotic associated diarrhea, C.difficile, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, yeasts and other pathogens while simultaneously restoring functional gut flora.

Saccharomyces boulardii Forte DBVPG 6763 is a unique strain of this significant freeze dried live probiotic requires no refrigeration to yield an exceptionally high CFU content. Strain verified through genomic typing to ensure maximum value Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii) is a viable yeast, and therefore does not contain any milk products. S. boulardii is a true “biotic” or living organism which has been shown to have multiple beneficial affects via improvement of intestinal microbalance when orally administered. S. boulardii is not part of the naturally occurring gut flora, and is not significantly impacted by antibiotics. In fact, S. boulardii has been shown to be supportive of antibiotic therapy.

In clinical studies, Saccharomyces boulardii has been demonstrated to increase the production of secretory IgA, (sIGA) the first line defense immunoglobin of the gastrointestinal tract, crucial for supporting immune health, particularly in the gastrointestinal system and in mucosal secretions throughout the body which are exposed to pathogenic organisms and viruses. When sIGA levels are depleted, a low immune response follows often in the form of food intolerances or sensitivities and digestive challenges such as dysbiosis. This opens the door wide for potentially harmful bacteria, Candida, yeasts, parasites, etc.
